Johnny Depp in negotiation to play Houdini in Liongate/Summit's The Secret Life of Houdini

Johnny Depp is in Negotiation to play Houdini in Lionsgate/Summit's The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero. The movie is set to be a kind of Indiana Jones en semblance which would casting Houdini as not only an escape artist, but also as an investigator of the occult. Noah Oppenheim is set to right the screenplay based on William Kalush and Larry Sloman's book in the same name.
Depp is also set to revisit his role in two of his major Blockbuster movies, Alice in the Wonderland: Through the looking glass and Pirates of the Caribbean : Dead men tell no tales. He is said to be shooting Alice 2 after he completes Whitey Bulger's Black Mass which he is shooting alongside Benedict Cumberbatch and Adam Scott. The question is will The Secret Life of Houdini be shot before Pirates of the Caribbean 5? Depp has also teamed up with Lionsgate for Mortdecai to be released February 6, 2015.
Depp's producing partner at Infinitum Nihil, Christi Dembroski is also in negotiation to produce the movie alongside Silver Lining's playbook's Bruce Cohen and Bourne Legacy's Frank Marshall
