Written and directed by David Ayer, Fury is described by costar Michael Peña as a “character study with action sequences”; just as intriguing, perhaps, is the substantial amount of practical effects on display in the first footage, even when it comes to the more explosion-riddled sequences in the movies. Not that this should come as any real shock, however, as grittiness and a unpolished visual aesthetic are very much Ayer’s calling cards, as a director.
