Robert Orci talks about Star Trek 3 and the next villains

Star Trek: Into the Darkness teased about a five-year mission across the galaxies and it seems like Robert Orci is making good on that promise. As J.J Abrams is busy with Star Wars: Episode Vii, Robert Orci is taking on the directorial duties and making the fans very excited about Star Trek 3 which is looking at a 2016 release date. During a Podcast interview with Screenrant, He dished on the upcoming movie.

In [Into Darkness] they set out finally where the original series started. The first two films – especially the 2009 [Star Trek] – was an origin story. It was about them coming together. So they weren’t the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues on in the second movie. So in this movie they are closer than they are to the original series characters that you have ever seen. They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space.

Star Trek fans have always been concerned about the franchise's ability to not elaborate on the Klingons which have always been the major enemies of the federation and when Robert Orci was pressed about the villains in the upcoming Star Trek 3 he said;

The Horta is actually the villain in the next one – no – they are in deep space now, so lets see what’s out there.

What do you think about Star Trek 3?
